Registered Psychotherapy

Registered psychotherapy is a talk based therapy intended to help people improve and maintain their mental health and well-being. Psychotherapy occurs when the Registered Psychotherapist (RP) and client enter into a psychotherapeutic relationship where both work together to bring about positive change in the client's thinking, feeling, behaviour, and social functioning.

I have a background in working with individuals to address a variety of experiences including anxiety, depression, stress, burn-out, developmental trauma/attachment wounds, C-PTSD, reclaiming one’s authenticity and identity, meaning making, creating/connecting to one’s sense of self, self-esteem, shame/guilt, boundary work, relational difficulties, loss and grief.

I believe the more we can cultivate insight and awareness into what makes us feel the way we do, and what makes us behave the way we do, the more ability and choice we have to navigate the world in a more fulfilling, authentic and meaningful way. In our work together, we’ll explore your experiences, how they impact you and what they mean to you—all in relation to what you desire and need for yourself moving forward. We’ll bring to surface and explore any conscious/unconscious beliefs or patterns that may be making you feel stuck, limited, powerless or hopeless from living your life in a way that’s most meaningful to you.

I bring a gentle, compassionate and curious stance to support clients to more intimately understand themselves, their relationships, and the world around them. In our work together we’ll deep dive into understanding the root causes of what makes you feel the way you do. Developing this awareness is the first step to cultivating long-term change, and to connect to an internal sense of agency and empowerment to believe change is possible and within your reach.

I draw from a number of therapeutic modalities including psychodynamic, attachment theory and IFS. As a yoga and meditation teacher, mindfulness, compassion and somatics inform my therapeutic practice, and are sprinkled throughout the way we explore experiences together. Upon request from clients, specific tools from these traditions can also be incorporated into sessions.

I work with a variety of issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, shame, loss, grief, self-esteem, and relationship difficulties.

I work from a client-centered approach, placing emphasis on our client-therapist relationship. As such, I offer a caring, compassionate, and inquiring atmosphere to foster an emotionally safe space for inner exploration of difficult feelings, experiences and memories.

When working with couples, I blend Emotionally- Focused Therapy, The Gottman Approach, and IFS to explore the patterns that lead to disconnection, and to create corrective emotional experiences in session.

I help clients examine their distress by bringing up and working through their experiences, issues, or concerns in an effort to understand and clarify their current beliefs, emotions, and behaviors as they relate to personal decisions and intimate relationships.

Additionally, I endeavor to help clients realize their potential for inner development and self-directed growth. Ultimately, my goal in therapy is to facilitate and accommodate clients reclaiming their ability to make mindful choices and decisions, and to gain autonomy over their lives.
